Struggling in the early part of the season, Fiorentina are finally looking to get their act together as their recent four matches unbeaten run have helped the team climbing in the league position, rising at 8th on the table.
This condition gives the Viola players the confidence that their previous target of staying in the league can now be upgraded into pursuing for an European Football place next summer, which in this case eying for a spot at Europa League.
Among the players that are voicing the optimism about Fiorentina’s ability to challenge for Europa league place is defender Alessandro Gamberini, who stated that after having 40 points already this season, their future aim is challenging a place in Europe. Moreover, the defender also promised the Viola fans that the players will be giving their all in the remaining matches to get the best possible position they can get.
“After getting to 40 points we still have the chance to obtain a finish that could allow us to get into Europe. Recently we have told each other to keep giving everything and to play every game like a Final,” Gamberini said.
As a part of their European ambition, Fiorentina are eying to get all three point in their upcoming important tie against As Roma, that are also having a pretty good run in the league since being taken over by Vincenzo Montella. Acknowledging the importance of the upcoming game against Roma, Gamberini stated that getting a win is essential for the Viola as not only it could lift their position in the table, but a victory against a big team would also be a special gift for the Florence based side fans.
“The game with Roma is worth a lot not just for the great rivalry that there is with them, but also because we can climb up the table,” Gamberini added. “Winning this match might also make the fans enthusiastic again which hasn’t always been the case this season.”
Just as Gamberini stated, after a disappointing start in the league, continuing their rise in the table might be a perfect gift for the fans, who have already voiced out their anger towards the team’s performance earlier in the season. Now with a much more improved results, surely the Viola are eying to finish the season in a high not just for the club’s pride but also winning back their devotees heart, that have been disappointed by the team’s performance earlier.
