Napoli are set to face a tougher season especially with their difficult Champions League group which will definitely give problems in the clubs’ league form, however, Edinson Cavani believes that his club is ready for the challenge.
The Uruguayan striker stated that although they will face tight schedule and difficult matches, the fine job the management made in the summer transfer market has encouraged Cavani’s confidence in his team’s ability in competing to win titles this summer.
We have everything that is required to dispute a great championship. Some important players have arrived at this club over the summer The President and the Coach moved well during the window to carry out an excellent transfer campaign. And with our fans, it will be impossible to not do well,” Cavani revealed.
Moreover, Napoli’s top scorer last season also voiced out his confidence ahead of their Champions League campaign against Manchester City on Wednesday, stating that the rich club’s new players doesn’t scared him one bit. Cavani believes that the match results can’t be decided on paper as everything must be settled on the pitch, so the Partenopei obviously have the same chance in beating any opponents on the pitch despite the Southern Italian outfit still lack experience in European competition.
“I fear no one. “I don’t fear City’s champions and I played in the Copa America. All games start with 11 players against 11,” Cavani stated.
Cavani’s confidence definitely needs to be proved but the reinforcement that Napoli have purchased this summer does bring plenty positive vibes for the team especially the addition of important players such as Gokhan Inler and Goran Pandev. The main issue that Walter Mazzarri’s side have to face is definitely their ability in keeping up with the tight schedule they will be facing until the end of year, playing twice in a week against quality teams would give lots of mental tiredness for the players.
Because of that, Mazzarri’s ability in managing his players would be much more tested this season as the team and fans obviously have an expectation that at least Napoli can continue last season’s top three finish, something that would give pressure to the club. However, should they managed to handle manage everything, there’s a big chance that the Partenopei can fulfill Cavani’s dream in competing or even ends up winning something by the end of season.
