As most people focus their attention on Inter Milan to find out how the Balotelli and Maicon transfer sagas conclude, another interesting one is building up across town in the Milanello training grounds where arch rivals AC Milan find themselves being accused of ‘breaking promises’.
The Rossoneri who were in London playing a series of pre season friendlies agianst Arsenal and Lyon are being accused by Brazil and Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano of ‘making promises they could not keep’.
Fabiano has only just recently stated that he has no intention of leaving Spain despite reports earlier in this summer claiming a possible transfer.
“In reality, no one came looking for me,”
“I have ruled out Milan since last year when there was the only serious contact. I ruled them out because they made promises that they didn’t keep.”
“I can’t say it. I’m staying at Sevilla. I have won a lot here. This is a fundamental moment in my career. Now I must prepare myself in the best way possible for the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona and for the preliminary stages of the Champions League.” Fabiano was speaking to football Italia.
In my opinion, Milan are better off without another old player who has at most 3 years left in him playing at such a competitive level. If Milan’s pre-season friendlies are anything to go by, then they are definite contenders fo the scudetto.
I now see why the club was so categorical in buying new players. Allegri surprised many by giving some of the youth players a chance to play against Lyon and they did not disappoint.
If he can find the right balance between his old players and the younger players, then i believe that Rossoneri might have just solved one of their biggest problems. We can only hope that they continue in similar fashion once the season begins.
