Fabiano Set To Miss 3 Weeks With Thigh Injury

It always seems to happen this way…

Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano couldn’t get on the pitch earlier in the season and he could not figure out why. In a bizarre move Fabiano rarely saw starting minutes and often pined about a potential move to England if things didn’t change. Then the recently extended Fabiano begun seeing more and more minutes month after month until the transfer rumors finally ceased. Having recently found happier times with his club, Sevilla was beginning to climb back up the board into the top four region that they regularly call home.

But something unfortunate happened to Fabiano on Sunday when his side faced off against Mallorca.

The Brazilian national team starter tweaked a thigh muscle and will miss a minimum of two to three weeks of action due to the painful injury. It’s a tough time to lose an experienced scorer considering Sevilla has two worthy matches against Getafe and Villarreal coming up in the next two weeks. Without Fabiano in the lineup, Sevilla’s chances of reaching the final four will take a serious hit considering one of their upcoming opponents (the Yellow Submarines) currently own one of the top four spots.

Not to mention Sevilla also has a critical tournament match coming up in a week’s time against Paris St Germain in Europa League play. So overall Fabiano will be missed because of a string of vital matches and as important as the Europa League fixture is the most important matches missed will be in La Liga where Sevilla is currently only in 7th place, but only two points behind fourth place Espanyol.

It will be tough for Sevilla to remain in the top four once again this season and losing Fabiano to a thigh muscle problem will only hurt their hopes of remaining a Champions League team. But hopefully the injury will fully heal sometime in December.
