Sevilla’s Brazilian forward Luis Fabiano has issued a come and get me plea to Italian giants AC Milan. The 29 year old who was heavily linked with a move to the San Siro last summer after giving one of his best performances for the Selecao during the Confederations cup in South Africa, is ready to terminate his current contract with Sevilla that runs out at the end of next season.
Sevilla put a 20 million euro price tag on Fabiano last summer but the Rossoneri backed out of the deal at the last minute. However, Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has now vowed to do all that it takes to bring the striker to the San Siro.
Just a few days ago, the club released its budget for the summer transfer window allocating a paltry 30 million Euros for new signings. 20 million was set aside for a top signing while the remainder was to be used to bolster the club’s youth system.
Now, unless Milan can negotiate with Sevilla to lower their asking price, then this might be their only signing in the summer. Fabiano is a very talented forward and if this move materialises, Milan will definitely be a force to reckon with next season.
With Ronaldinho, Pato and Fabiano in attack, the Rossoneri should be the team to beat. One thing that bothers me however is why the club keeps going for old players. Fabiano may be talented but he only has about4 at most 6 years playing at the highest level. So if Milan are looking for quick results then by all means they should snap up Fabiano while they still can.
But if the club is seeking to build a team for the future one that can challenge the likes of Inter Milan and Barcelona, then a player like Adebayor or Dzeko will be the perfect fit. Again one signing won’t be enough to get Milan challenging for the scudetto seriously.
Milan need a pair of young legs to help out in the midfield because frankly Seerdorf seems to be aging by the day. That said, if Milan can sign Fabiano, they would at least have one less problem to worry about.
