Being in the heat of the transfer market in the last few days, Inter Milan’s star striker, Samuel Eto’o, pretty much hinted at his imminent departure from San Siro after confirming that his negotiation with Russian club, Anzhi, is moving advancing.
However, the Cameroon striker isn’t confirming that he will eventually goes to Russia as he opens the door for a potential switch to the Premier League, stating that a surprise offer from Queen Elizabeth’s country might arrived soon.
The negotiations with Anzhi are still going. It is possible I’ll go, just as it’s possible I will stay. The truth is that right now I am an Inter player, but I won’t rule out a surprise from England,” Eto’o revealed. “We’ll have to wait for the end of the transfer market, which will be soon enough. When I leave Cameroon, the negotiations will continue.”
The Cameroon international’s statement immediately rises the speculation about the potential swap deal that Inter are trying to make with Manchester City, as the Nerazzurri reportedly offering Eto’o to Roberto Mancini’s side in exchange for Carlos Tevez. Although there are other financially capable teams in the premier league that can pay the transfer fee being asked for the ex-Barcelona’s side, still Man City are pretty much considered the only team that would be willing to provide the high wages demands Eto’o is asking.
Not only that, although financially it would be difficult for Inter in getting Tevez, but the South American atmosphere on the Nerazzurri’s team could be the tool that the fashion capital side’s uses in persuading the former Manchester United attacker. It’s been known that the Argentinian international has been complaining a lot about not liking his live at Manchester, especially the fact that he is far from his family back home simply makes thing very unsettling for the player.
One thing for sure, the future of the Cameroon international seems far away from San Siro at the moment and the decision looks to be between getting as many cash he can get in his 30’s or moving into another competitive league, which he hasn’t tried out yet. The second option looks to be a bit more interesting for Eto’o should he still wants to play in a competitive competition since playing in a top premier league team, such as Man City would allow him to also compete in the Champions League.
