It was one of the big stories making headlines in the close season. Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko’s proposed move to the San Siro had football pundits and fans all talking of a dream Milan strike partnership with Pato. However, it was not to be. Dzeko decided to remain with defending German champions Wolfsburg after the club refused to let him go.
Now the 23 year old who scored an impressive 26 goals to help his club lift the Bundesliga title has revealed that he would like to play for the rossonerri next season. Dzeko is so keen on a move to the San Siro that he has already spoken to Wolfsburg executives about his eminent departure at the end of this season.
This will be great for Milan as they look to win their first league title since 2004. Milan already has a good crop of talented players with the likes of dutch striker Huntelaar still yet to explode on the Italian scene. I seriously believe that Milan are strong contenders for the scudetto.
With the kind of football their are playing it easy to see why Inter and Juventus are worried about their title chances. Their star signing Ronaldinho is once agian re-discovering his old form that brought him a host of individual awards
Even in the abscence of their strong man Gattusso, Milan are still getting the good results. I am waiting with baited breath to see just what impact he will have when he returns from his lengthy lay-off. That said, Milan should act on this golden opportunity and sign this rising star player. Although i have not watched many of his games , the few that i have watched have been really entertaining.
Dzeko reminds me of another great Milan player – Schevchenko. They almost resemble each other in both appearance and style of play and if my gut feeling is right then he will be a key component in Leonardo’s long termat the club.
