Dutch Star Huntelaar Downplays United Link

I am a big fan of Huntelaar and i still cannot understand why Milan let him go! Despite rescuing Milan on a number of occasions in the 2009/2010 season, Huntelaar was regularly used a substitute for the Rossoneri something that eventually led to his move to the Bundesliga.

The Dutch international has gone onto establish himself as a goal scoring machine for Schalke this season scoring 15 goals in 16 appearances for the German club. In total he has scored 23 goals in 40 appearances for Schalke.

It is this amazing form that has seen him being linked with a move to Premiership club Manchester United. However, Huntelaar has downplayed the link saying that he knows nothing of the alleged interest of United in his services.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Huntelaar reiterated his commitment to Schalke saying he would only listen to offer when his current contract expires in the summer of 2013

“I know nothing of alleged interest from Manchester United,” Huntelaar said. “I will not even speculate, I am concentrating fully on Schalke.

“I’ll let any offers come to me quietly and will then see what happens. This is the attitude I’ve always had. My contract runs until the summer of 2013. If they [Schalke] want to talk, I’ll gladly listen.”

Meanwhile, United coach Alex Ferguson has not ruled out the possible threat of London clubs wining the Premiership. Ferguson is particulalry wary of Tottenham who despite being seven points behind them, have one game in hand.

“At this moment in time, everyone thinks it will be one and two for the city,” Sir Alex said. “But come March, things change and you need to go back over the years to see how dramatic it can be.

“We surrendered an 11 point lead to Arsenal and we managed to claw back a 12 point deficit to Newcastle and last year Chelsea were 10 points clear in November and they lost it.”

United prepare to host Wigan at the Old Trafford tomorrow in a premier league fixture that should be an easy win for them. Currently 2 points behind City, United cannot afford to lose any game.
