Udinese ended their recently poor result in Serie A with a convincing fashion after beating Bologna 3-1 at Renato Dall’ara, albeit some controversy did sparked the Friulani’s success.
Antonio Di Natale who returned from an injury was the one involved in the controversial decision when he earned a spot kick which eventually started his team’s victory on the day.
Coming into the weekend fixture with a victory against PAOK in the Europa League, Udinese looked more confident while battling against Bologna, who have been pretty good recently. The return of their marksman, Di Natale, also boosted the Zebrette’s confidence as they can count on the veteran bomber once again to provide goals which have been pretty dire since his absence in Serie A.
Udinese’s hunger were pretty visible right from the start as they dominated the encounter, creating more goal scoring chances, lead by their talismanic attacker, Di Natale, who looked really fired up in giving the victory for his team. After several chances, the visitor finally got their break through but it was in a rather controversial manner as they earned a spot kick after Di Natale was fouled by Diego Perez, but it seems that the incident happened just outside the area, although part of the striker’s foot was in the line.
The Italian striker didn’t hesitate in finishing the spot kick as he buried it convincingly, without giving any chance for Gillet to reach the powerful shot, as it was placed under the bar. Di Natale’s influence was extremely huge for Udinese as few minutes after the break, the veteran set up Dusan Basta for his team’s second as the wing back dribbled passed couple of Bologna players before chipping Gillet.
Udinese’s second goal stunned Bologna, who immediately tried to get back into the game with Marco Di Vaio remain as the main protagonist up front for the home team. The veteran striker’s effort eventually paid off though as 10 minutes before the final whistle, he assisted Panagiotis Kone to hammer home the goal that the home side were craving for.
However, just when the home team found their spirit for the equalizer, Udinese sealed the match with Antonio Floro Flores’ wonderful finish from Basta’s pull back from the byline. The scoreline didn’t changed until the final whistle and Francesco Guidolin’s side get their sparkling form back on track again as the push for the last Champions League place looks more interesting.
