Cristiano's Confidence

Real Madrid’s victory over Atletico Madrid this midweek didn’t only maintain their four points gap with Barcelona but also gave a newfound confidence from Madrid players regarding their chance in winning the league.

Madrid’s top scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, ultimately was one of those having a strong believe that the league title is getting closer to Santiago Bernebau, although he admitted that his team are feeling the pressure from Barcelona’s current winning run.

Having to play their Derby game right after knowing that Barcelona temporarily cut the margin into just one point, Ronaldo revealed his delight with Madrid’s ability in bagging all three points against Atletico. The former Manchester United player credited all his teammates for the success, even if the Portuguese international was a protagonist with his hat-trick along with an assist which gave Los Blancos a convincing 4-1 victory.

“There is a lot left, but winning La Liga has got closer now. Losing is not in my vocabulary, There was pressure on us because we knew Barcelona had won their match. We are still four points clear. I am very happy to have scored and picked up an assist,” Ronaldo stated. “We have to continue like this. I am very happy, but without my team-mates I could not have done it. We knew this was going to be a tough match, but we gave a good account of ourselves against a very strong Atletico side.”

Ronaldo maybe getting the confidence flying again, but they mustn’t lose track considering there’s still El Classico which could eventually decides the title winner as if Barcelona win they’ll be a point behind Los Blancos. Obviously Madrid are still ahead of their rival but another slip after or before Classico could simply ended all the good work that they’ve been building for quite a while, leading the table with even 10 points at some stage.
