Could This Be Milan’s Resurgence?

There is no doubt that Sunday’s clash between AC Milan and AS Roma was the match of the weekend. Both these sides had to win to keep their chances of lifting the scudetto alive.

A loss for Milan at home would have definitely ended Leonardo’s short coaching career and further hampered Milan’s quest to win the Serie A. However, that was not to be as the rossoneri prevailed beating the Romans 2-1 thanks to their Brazilians imports Ronaldinho and Pato.

The Romans were the first to draw blood as Jeremy Menez struck in the 3rd minute. Roma were without their top scorer Francesco Totti who was suffering from a knee injury. However, Vucinic semeed to have the midas touch as he was involved in most of his teams attack.

Ten minutes into the second half and the referee handed a penalty to Milan after Nicolas Burdisso brought down Alessandro Nesta inside the penalty area. Gaucho then stepped up to take the penalty and as you can guess he sent the goalie the wrong way.

Ronaldinho was again involved in Milan’s second goal as his sublime pass found Pato who made no mistake in scoring. This win moves the rossoneri up 4 spots to 8th and it could not have come at a better time for the Milan outfit.

Wednesday 21st October is another big game day for Milan. They travel to Spain to play Real Madrid in a Uefa Champions League group stage fixture. This will definitely be the match to watch and by the implications i got from ronnie’s tweet, Kaka and Real should be ready for a gruelling match. Last night’s match seemed to be the start of good things for Milan. We can only hope that they do not lose their momentum.
