The midweek fixtures in Serie A so far doesn’t seem to be kind for the big teams as the likes of Ac Milan, Juventus, Napoli all failed to pick up three points while Lazio revives after the pressure mounting on their coach Edy Reja.
It was pretty much a week to forget for most of the Italian league big guns, especially those being favored to take the Scudetto this season as the mid table teams are still doing well in the table.
Playing in San Siro, a still depleted Milan side once again didn’t managed to take all three points as Alexandre Pato added the club’s injury list after limping out of the pitch and was substituted by young Stephan El Shaarawy, who turned as the savior in the game. After Antonio Di Natale opened the scoring for Udinese, capitalizing on Christian Abbiati’s howler in Milan’s goal, El Shaarawy netted his Serie A debut goal with a well placed shot midway into the second half, rescuing a point for the home team.
In Turin, Juventus also failed to continue their winning streak in Serie A as they were held at home by Bologna, in a game which saw Mirko Vucinic becomes a hero and villain at the same time. The Montenegro international scored a goal in the first half which helped his team to take a lead in the game, but foolishly gets send off early in the second period after collecting a second booking, allowing the visitor took the game from the Bianconeri and eventually scored the equalizer through Portanova’s header.
Meanwhile, another title challenger, Napoli picked up a much more worse result as they were beaten by their bogey team, Chievo Verona at Marc Antono Bentegodi stadium. Resting their star trio, Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik from the start might be a costly decision but last season the Partenopei also can’t seem to win against the Flying Donkey. Davide Moscardelli was the hero that night for the home team as his second half volley smashed through Morgan De Sanctis’ net and gave his team all three point.
At Stadio Manuzzi, Lazio managed to revive from their poor result last weekend by picking up all three points against the home team, Cesena, with new signing, Miroslav Klose scoring the winning goal in that match. The host took the lead through Adrian Mutu in the 14th minute which stayed until the first half before Hernanes equalized from the penalty spot straight from the re-start. Shortly after that, Klose struck the winning goal after managed to held of three Cesena defenders before firing his shot pass Ravaglia.
