Chelsea denies making a move for Sergio Ramos and Ramos confirms

There has been many rumors going around that Chelsea were looking to buy Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid and they were said to even place a bid for the Spanish defender. However, after it was said that Chelsea were looking to offer £33 million to Los Blancos for his services, Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen has went on to deny those claims as Arnesen said they have never made any contact with the club or were even thinking about putting an offer in for the player.

Having spoke personally with Madrid president, Florentino Perez, Arnesen went on to tell Madrid president that they have never made such a offer for Ramos and deny even trying to make a move for the right-back. Although Chelsea may very well need a right-back as many people think that this is one of their weaker positions on the field and Ramos could definitely fill that void, the reports were false and Madrid fans can stop worrying now as both sides have pretty much confirmed that no such deal were in the talks.

In addition to denying the offer that was to be made by The Blues, Frank Arnesen also went on to tell Perez that they were the ones that were offered to signing him according to reports from AS.

The Chelsea sporting director went on to say the following in a recent statement :

“It is absolutely false, We haven’t made any bid for Ramos. What did surprise us is that a person called us on behalf of the player to see if we were interested in signing him.”

Sergio Ramos himself said that these were all but rumors and never even gave thought in leaving Madrid. Ramos wishes to end his career with Los Blanco’s and went on to say the following to Marca :

“There’s no truth in it. I had a dream of winning the World Cup and I achieved it. Now I have another: to retire playing at Madrid.”

Although Chelsea may need a right-back and Sergio Ramos would be a great addition to the Premier League champions, I did not think that Ramos would be wanting to make the move. I have always thought of Ramos to be the type of player that wanted to end his career at Madrid where he loved by the fans and it seems as if that is the case.

Happy to see Ramos stay at Bernabeu ? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
