Cavani Signs New Deal With Napoli

Edinson Cavani | IMG_1214After being filled with several speculation, the future of Napoli’s new star striker, Edinson Cavani, has finally been cleared as reports from Italy confirmed that the Uruguayan international has signed a new contract extension with his current team.

The second Serie A Top Scorer is being tied by the Partenopei until 2016 with a wage around 2 Million Euro, plus several bonuses that would possibly raise his total earning.

Cavani’s new earning increases from his previous 1,8 Million Euro, which is something pretty big for a team on the rise again such as Napoli, who have just been returning in Serie A for few years after spending time in the lower level do to financial issues. Although he has just been signed last summer, the new contract pretty much arrives as the effect of the player’s excellent performance in his first season with the Partenopei, scoring 26 goals in the league and obviously play a big part in securing the Champions League spot.

Moreover, with some previous news about the interest of several other clubs on acquiring Cavani’s signature, Napoli feels that giving a new contract for the striker would be important since the Southern Italian club wants to keep him next season. Playing in a tough competition such as the Champions League is definitely a big deal for the Partenopei, that’s why the must not lose their star players including the Uruguayan international next summer.

Unfortunately, Cavani’s season is pretty much over at the moment after the player picked up a red card two weeks ago, a punishment that would leave him out in the last game this weekend. However, the absence could be used to extend his vacation considering the player should be called up by his country to play in the upcoming Copa America competition before the new Italian season start.
