PSG Spend €100 million To Sign Lucas Moura

Paris Saint-Germain have beaten Inter Milan and Manchester United in the race to sign Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo for a reported fee of €45 million.

The Brazilian teenager will move to the Parc des Princes in January because PSG currently has filled all their non-EU positions.

It had seen that Manchester United was going to land the talented Brazilian, but PSG have the deepest pockets in football, and they can outspend anyone.

A statement on PSG web site confirmed the deal reading:

“Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo FC have reached today an agreement for the definitive transfer of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva.

Can Paris Saint-Germain Turn Spending Spree Into Champions League Glory?

The French Ligue 1 football season starts on Friday but the title has already been awarded.

“The question is not whether they will win the league but when,” wrote France Football magazine this week. “The question is not whether they will be champions but how often.”

After spending over €250m on transfers in 12 months, including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Motta and today Lucas Moura, PSG are expected to romp to victory in France, not just this season, but for the foreseeable future. After going 29-years without winning Ligue 1, that wait should end this season for PSG fans.

Lucas Frenzy Out Of Control As PSG Bid €45m For Brazil Reserve

The bidding frenzy for San Paulo starlet Lucas Moura has taken another crazy turn. Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has claimed that Paris St Germain have offered Sao Paulo €45 million for the midfielder, a fee he believes is “completely illogical”.

The Inter President has came to his senses and pulled his club out of the Lucas sweepstakes telling Sky Sport Italia:

“We would never have gone up to that sum,” Moratti said. “In any case, there are no regrets that we didn’t finish off the move, as the cost was already pretty high a few days ago.

Will Ibrahimovic Make His PSG Debut Against D.C. United?

The answer to that question appears to be yes, as high-profile signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is expected to make his Paris Saint-Germain debut against D.C. United on Saturday night.

“He will start to train this afternoon,” said PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti of Ibrahimovic in a media conference call on Tuesday. “For the game on Saturday, I think that we have to check his physical condition, and if there are no problems maybe he can play 40, 45 minutes.”

Ibrahimovic’s Agent Defends His Massive Wage Package

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola has been trying to defend his clients huge money move to Qatari-backed Paris Saint-Germain as the deal continues to draw criticism throughout France.

New France president Francois Hollande was critical of Ibra’s transfer last week saying:

“There are teams who manage to win, even in professional sport… without necessarily having very large wages.”

According to the Guardian, Ibrahimovic is reportedly set to earn over €250,000-a-week after tax in a country that already imposes a 75% tax rate for individuals with an annual salary of more than €1 million. Read that again. Ibrahimovic  gets €250,000-a-week after tax. So his pre-tax wages are €1 million-a-week. That has to make Ibrahimovic the highest paid athlete (gross wages) in the  world.

PSG Confirm Completion Of Ibrahimovic Deal

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the blockbuster deal between PSG and Inter Milan for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva for €65 million has finally been completed.

The two clubs agreed on the deal last week and Silva agreed to personal terms with PSG last week also, but it took Ibrahimovic and his agent until today to agree on a deal that made Ibrahimovic the second highest paid footballer in the world.

The 30-year-old Sweden international has agreed a reported €13 million-per-annum, three-year deal and will undergo a medical in Paris on Wednesday morning.

AC Milan Accepts €65m Offer From PSG For Silva And Ibrahimovic

Huge news out of Italy as Sky Italia are reporting that AC Milan has accepted Paris Saint-Germain’s €65 million offer for Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

With an agreement over a transfer fee seemingly struck between the two clubs, now PSG needs to reach agreements with the two players, something that they have struggled doing before.

PSG has a 46 million euro offer for Silva turned down last month as Rossoneri president Silvio Berlusconi rejected the transfer himself at the last minute.

Reports have suggested the 27-year-old Brazil defender could still turn down the move. Only two days ago he was quoted as saying:

Lavezzi Snubs Chelsea And Man City By Joining Paris Saint-Germain

Big win for Paris Saint-Germain in the transfer market as they have signed 27-year-old Argentina striker Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli for £21million.

Lavezzi had been linked with a move to Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City but PSG grabbed him with a five-year deal worth £77,000-a-week.

Lavezzi really impressed with his performances in the Champions League, where his Napoi side knocked Man City out of the competition in the group stages before falling to Chelsea in the knockout round.

Lavezzi’s agent Alejandro Mazzon confirmed his side will be heading to France rather than England saying:

Carlos Tevez will not be joining PSG

Carlos Tevez will not be transferring to Paris Saint Germain. The French club from the capital Paris are now owned by a Qatari investment fund and have money aplenty. It was widely expected that they would be able to put together a financial package that would have been sufficient to entice the Argentine striker to come and join their mission to make PSG one of the leading players in European football. As of now, the move appears dead.
