Although I don’t think Barcelona will be looking into signing any playmakers soon, Villarreal midfielder, Borja Valero, has went on to express his emotions on wanting to play for the Catalan giants; if they were to show interest in signing him.
Despite the fact that Valero has enjoyed time playing for Barcelona rivals, Real Madrid, the Yellow Submarine playmaker feels that this wouldn’t stop him from making a departure to Camp Nou.
In a recent interview with Sport, Valero went on to say the following:
“My past with Real Madrid means nothing. A player is always trying to improve in the various clubs where he plays, and without doubt the club is one of the best in the world and I would love to play for them if I ever had the chance. I spent 11 years in Madrid, but I’ve always liked Guardiola, who likes to play good football. I liked him not only at Barcelona, but when he played with the Spanish team. I do not know if he likes me directly, but I’ve been told many times. It is a compliment that he speaks well of me because he has always been one of my role models in the game.”
With a price tag said to be set at €20 million, securing the services of Valero would save the Catalan club a boat-load of money instead of chasing after Cesc Fabregas. However, with rumors spreading that Barcelona and Arsenal have already reached an agreement but are keeping things ‘Secretive’ it will be interesting in seeing what will happen as Valero would not a bad signing for the Spanish champions.
Do you think that Barcelona will try to secure Valero Services? Would the former Madrid player receive heat if he were to sign with the Catalan giants? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
