Boateng Happy With Champions League Performance

AC Milan’s Ghanaian midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng scored his first European goal for the club in their 2-0 home win over BATE Borisov last night to make the Italian giants top leaders in Group H alongside defending champions Barcelona.

Boateng needed this all important goal to clear any doubts about his commitment to Milan. The result means that both clubs are well positioned to progress to the knock out stages. However, the battle will be for top spot.

Of course, the top finisher in each group are seeded against ‘easier’ opponents, however, looking at the level of competition this season, i highly doubt that it will make any difference who finishes first in any group as all teams are focused on winning the title no matter how impossible it might seem for a number of them.

That said, the main decider for the group will be on match day 5 when Milan host Barcelona at the San Siro. It will be the mother of all matches as the 7 time champions will be up against a side that has earned the label as the best European club in the past 2 years.

Coming back to Milan, Boateng was quick to assure fans that his goal was the beginning of more good things to come.

“I’m very happy, it was very important for us to win. It was a good game, we did our job so everything’s good.

They played in two banks of four, they were playing very tight, so we didn’t have a lot of space. I tried my luck a couple of times in the first half and in the end I was very happy to score.” Boateng said

Milan now shift their focus back to the league with an important fixture against Lecce. A win for the Rossonerri would help them continue their slow climb up the table and by the looks of it, Boateng should expect to start the game.

“I always work hard, I always try my best and I showed today what I can do and hopefully I’ll keep doing that. I love it here, I love the team; I love everything about Milan. I’m enjoying my football here and I try to improve every day.”
