Big Names Released By Premier League Clubs Today

Florent+Malouda+FC+Bayern+MunichLot of highest-profile names appear on the Premier League free transfer list, which was released today.

Twelve months ago Florent Malouda played for Chelsea in the Champions League Final, but after turing down offers to move elsewhere last summer, he spent the last year training with Chelsea’s academy kids. So he should be well rested if someone picks him up!

Andrey Arshavin was Arsenal’s record breaking transfer, but he never matched expectations, especially after scoring four goals at Anfield in a 4-4 draw soon after signing for the Gunners.

Tottenham paid £15m for David Bentley in 2008, but proved to be a major flop, spending the last two seasons on loan at Russian side FK Rostov and Blackburn Rovers.

Chelsea have also released Israel midfielder Yossi Benayoun and Portugal defender Paulo Ferreira, while long-throw specialist Rory Delap departs Stoke along with retiring ex-England striker Michael Owen, Jermaine Pennant, Matthew Upson and Dean Whitehead.
