Big Champions League Matches Being Played Today
byBrian HallonSeptember 29, 2010
Why aren’t you sitting down in front of your television? Because today has plenty of wonderful football action on the TV. Like right now for example Manchester United is about to battle hosting side Valencia on FSN at 2:45 PM. And if you missed it earlier today Barcelona dropped points against FC Rubin Kazan in a 1-1 draw proving that any result is possible in the UEFA Champions League.
And today’s matches include two of the biggest of the second group of fixtures for the week. The most intriguing being the one on television, Valencia VS Manchester United. Man U enters the match down many key players to minor injuries and Valencia remains one of the hottest teams in Spain despite the loss of two superstars this off season. Today will be a very big day for Manchester United’s Champions League hopes and the result could decide either club’s fate in the tournament.
Another huge match is Inter VS Werder Bremen in a group where each team suffered a 2-2 tie in the first round of matches. So the group is still wide open and Inter could get off to a nice advantage if they win the critical home match. Tottenham Hotspur faces the exact same dilemma as Inter and Bremen and they will play the other 2-2 draw side in Twente Enschede. Plenty of other sides look to either gain the advantage over their group (Lyon, Benfica, Rangers) and some look to fight back from an early defeat (Schalke, Bursapor), but regardless of who is your favorite team turn on your television right now and watch Valencia VS Man U.
