Berlusconi Reveals Interest In Ronaldo

AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has revealed that he is a big admirer of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and that he would not hesitate in signing him if the opportunity presented itself, however, the catch is, the price has to be fair.

I would not want to burst his bubble, but the fact of the matter is that the probability of Ronaldo joining Milan is as slim as Messi leaving Barcelona. Having paid over $130 million to acquire his services from United in 2009, there is no way Los Blancos will sell Ronaldo or yet, sell him on the cheap.

Ronaldo is currently the leading goal scorer in La Liga with 30 goals to his name 18 of them coming as a result of the 6 hat-tricks his notched up so far this season. His nearest contender for the golden boot is Barcelona’s Lionel Messi who has 28 goals.

Speaking to Italian TV show Il Processo di Biscardi, this is what Berlusconi had to say.

“Cristiano Ronaldo? I would not say no [to signing him], but only for a fair price due to the economic crisis that is not only in Italy. And when questioned about other top strikers like Arsenal’s Van Perise and Man City’s Carlos Tevez, this is what he had to say:

Van Persie and Tevez? Who?,”

However, the former Italian premier had glowing praise for star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ibra who despite suffering a 3 match ban for indecent behavior is on course to pick up Serie A’s top scorer award. The Swede currently leads the table with 18 goals.

“I think to win it is very important to perform in international matches, so I hope Ibrahimovic will do very well in the Champions League. He deserves the Golden ball,” Berlusconi said.

Honestly, where would Milan be without Ibra? Not only is he responsible for their title win last season, but he has on a number of occasions stepped up to turn around the game when Milan were losing.

Sure he does have a big ego, however, he justifies that by always producing consistent results. If he is not scoring, he is involved in the build up play. Milan prepare to face Arsenal today in the return leg fixture of their Champions League Knock out tie. The Rossoneri carry a 4 goal advantage to the Emirates, however, nothing is guaranteed.
