Beckham’s contract with the LA Galaxy comes to an end later this month and it was widely believed that he would join PSG after talks with English Premier League Club Tottenham broke down.
The French outfit have the financial backing of some wealthy Qatari’s owners who are intent on creating a team that can challenge for titles both locally and in Europe as well and as such it was this that led to the speculation
French daily L’Equiperan a report last evening that said that a deal between Beckham and the club had been concluded. Similar stories were are still making headlines this morning with another paper Le Parisien running a similar story.
Le Parisien went as far as saying that a £670,000 per month deal had been arrived at with PSG.
However, Beckham’s spokesperson has rubbished the reports saying that no agreement with any club had been reached.
“No agreement with any football club has been reached. Any talk of a deal is premature. David is presently considering his options,” he said.
At 36, Beckham’s next deal will definitely be the last throw of the dice in his career as age and injuries are beginning to take a toll on him. It is not quite known where the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder will be headed next.
To be honest, i don’t think Beckham joining any team will significantly enhance their chances of wining any silverware. In fact, if anything this is all a publicity act to end his career on a high.
However, the best way to end his career would be with the club that gave him his first big break – Manchester United. What is not known is whether his relationship with Sir Alex is good.
The Scot has over the years built up a reputation of having soured relations with former stars. Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, Roy Keane and Beckham himself all fell out with Sir Alex and this was what led to them leaving.
That said, it still would be nice to see Beckham wear a Manchester United jersy for one last time.
