Bayern Munich could witness a mass walk out of its top stars if reports from the Bavarian club are to be believed. Arjen Robben could leave the club this summer as his relationship with coach Heynckes seems to be getting worse.
Robben has revealed that he is unsure about signing an extension to his contract that ends in June 2013 but has maintained that he will not be talking to any other clubs.
Apparently, all this is arising after being benched for three consecutive games and being criticised on his performances by coach Jupp Heynckes. Robben later said that he did not have confidence in Heynckes a remark that continues to raise speculation over his future.
However, Bayern’s sporting director moved to quell talks of a possible breakdown between the pair on Monday when he said that the club is determined to keep Robben beyond next year.
“It cannot be said that I am 100% certain I will stay with Bayern,” Robben said.
“A lot has happened in recent weeks and I didn’t play for three games in a row. Everybody saw that. It was not the best of times.
“It is not as if I have to sign a new deal next week. I am just concentrating on playing football. I still have a year on my contract with Bayern so there is no rush. You never know what happens in football – it is often very strange.”
That said, Bayern on Wednesday qualified for the final of the German Cup after beating Borussia Mochengladbach 4-2 on penalties after the match had ended goalless in extra time. Bayern will now face Dortmund in the final.
