During Barcelona’s Copa del Rey match against Ceuta, Jeffren fell awkwardly during the first half and was taken the hospital. Having undergone some tests it was confirmed that Jeffren will be out for 4 weeks.
Having gone on to win the match 2-0 yesterday, Pep Guardiola is not looking to take the 2nd leg lightly as he knows anything can happen. Having spoken about the match, Pep feels that only a 3rd goal would have left him feeling comfortable.
Guardiola went on to say the following,
“In the second half the team was less precise. We`ve lacked another goal to finish off the tie, which is still a little open. We`ve taken an important step, but it’s always best to be prudent,. If at home we are able to play with this intensity we will go through. (But) you need to take into account that football gives many surprises.”
Guardiola finds the Copa del Rey no easy task as he was able to win the tournament last year and knows his players have to work hard if they are looking to repeat as champions. Guardiola continued with the following when asked if it was easier than he thought:
“Not at all. They worked very hard and I’m very proud of how my players conducted themselves. Effort and hard work are the best ways to show the world who Barca are. If you don’t run a lot in games like that, you’re dead. The youth team players have a good level, and I want to congratulate the youngsters. It’s never easy to play a game with the first team. We know the players and we knew they would give us what they did. To sum up, I’m very pleased with the game we had.”
