Barcelona Star Villa Out For 5 Months

Spain and Barcelona striker David Villa’s season has come to a premature end after fracturing his Tibia in his side’s 4-0 win over Al Saad in the FIFA World Club Championships yesterday.

The striker will now be out for 5 months and fears are starting to emerge in the Spanish national side as to whether the 30 year old will recover in time for the Euro 2012 tournament.

The injury is not nearly as serious for Barcelona as it is for Spain. With a host of top notch strikers that include: Sanchesz, Pedro and Messi and one of the best midfield line ups in the game,  the Catalan giants are still capable of coping without Villa.

However, Villa’s injury for his national side Spain is way more serious. With Villa out and Torres struggling to get back to scoring ways, Vicente Del Bosque has his work cut out for him.

Meanwhile, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola admitted that the strikers injury was a tough blow to his preparations for the final against Santos. Speaking to reporters after his sides 4-0 win over Al Saad, Guardiola said that no replacement would be available for Villa.

“Villa is going back for an operation. Don’t ask me about a replacement for that particular player, we will have to play without him to become champions of the world,” he said.

“We will try to our best in the circumstances we find ourselves, we would like to be world champions.”

The FIFA club final will definitely be a spectacle to behold as to of the best players in the world go head to head for the first time. Personally, i feel that Brazilian star Neymar has proved throughout the course of the tournament that he can challenge Messi for that coveted title.

Heading into the final, Neymar has an edge over Messi both psychologically and physically. Having scored what is probably the best goal of the tournament, Neymar is certain to play to his best to prove that he can compete at the highest level.
