Barcelona is denying that they’ve made a move to bring Cesc Fabregas back to the coast from Arsenal. Of course, Barca is denying the reports because they don’t want to look like the “big bad wolf” who steals hens from the Premier League hen-house in the middle of a major fight at the top of the Premier League table.
I hope that Barca fesses up and just says “Yeah, we want him”. I’m not looking for this gigantic public offering, just a little honesty.
Moreover, I don’t blame Barca for wanting to bring Cesc back to Spain. True, they are up on the table and they look to stay strong for years to come, but who can blame them for wanting more power from someone who ALREADY played there.
I think this gets into the grey area that surrounds signing after signing. If you’re bringing back pieces you already had AND you have a strong leader on your club…then you’re fine. If you are Barca and Leo Messi is CLEARLY in charge, then it’s no big deal. If you’re Real Madrid and Ronaldo isn’t really a leader…then you’re going to have problems.
Barca sits atop the Spanish Premier Division because of Leo Messi’s leadership and Real Madrid is lagging behind because of the lack of leadership from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Now, if Cesc goes to Barca this means that Arsenal has problems. How could they possibly build on the momentum they have RIGHT NOW if he runs off to Spain? Arsenal is really threatening ManU and Chelsea and the train is coming into the station fast. It won’t be long before Arsenal overtakes ManU and starts nipping at the heels of the Blues. What a shame it would be to have that train derailed by a distracting story or the actual move.
