Some good news for all Brazil fans. AC Milan play maker Ronaldinho has been recalled to the Selecao’s 23 man squad for their up coming friendly against Argentina next month. This is the first time Dinho will play since April last year when he last featured for Brazil in a World Cup qualifier.
After a stellar season last year with Milan, it was very obvious that Dunga would do the honourable thing and include him in Brazil’s World Cup squad, however, the former skipper turned coach went back on his promise and left out Ronnie-much to everyone’s surprise.
With 87 caps and 32 goals to his name, Ronaldinho now has the chance to up his caps to try and reach the elusive 100 figure. Still trying to find the right formula, Coach Mano Menezes has also included EPL players Rafael and Sandro (both earning their first call up).
Looking at the squad i must say i am bit puzzled at the number of EPL players it has. To be honest, i am a bit scared. Brazil have a good record against Argentina this decade with La Albiceleste last beating Brazil 9 years ago!
The mix and match style employed by Menezes has not yet failed but facing an Argentina side that will be with all its stars will be a difficult task for Menezes.
But if statistics are anything to go by, then this should be another victory for for Menezes. Menezes is yet to lose any match since replacing Dunga 3 months ago and he would not want to start especially against foes Argentina.
Menezes complete selection is shown below.
