Bacary Sagna Ditches Arsenal For Manchester City

Sagna-ArsenalWinning an FA Cup winners medal was not enough to convince Arsenal fullback Bacary Sagna to stay at the Emirates and as expected the French fullback has signed for Premier League rivals Manchester City on a free transfer.

The 31-year-old defender has signed a three year deal and he has already been handed the same number three shirt he had at Arsenal, last worn at City by former Brazilian defender Maicon.

Sagna issued a farewell message to Arsenal fans on social media in which he said:

To be fair, i don’t even know where to start or even how to say it… but i just wanna thank the whole Arsenal fc… a family to me , a club who taught me so much in 7 years, a club where i had the chance to progress day by day, a club who always gave me his trust whenever i was personally not at my best , a club who change the kid i was to the man i am today, a club where i had the pleasure to give 200 pr cent every game.

I wanna thank the whole staff working at the club, the fans for accepting me so fast, making it smoove for myself and my family, my team mates witch i consider my true friends today and i had a great pleasure learning with them. Of course i wanna thank the coach MR WENGER… who believed in me..gave me his trust..and clearly changed my life. Now, it’s time for me to move on and one more time THANK YOU.

It’s a interesting move by Sagna, who is not guaranteed a starting spot at the Etihad, as incumbent fightback Pablo Zabaleta has been one of the strengths of the City side in recent years.

As for Arsenal fans the pain continues. Not only is former captain Cesc Fabregas now at rivals Chelsea, but Man City could line up next season with Sagna at right back, Gael Clichy at left back and Samir Nasri in midfield. Wheh you include Emmanuel Adebayor at Spurs, Robin van Persie at Man United and Kolo Toure at Liverpool no only team in the Premier League has as many players playing for direct rivals as Arsenal does. What does that say about the Arsenal squad?
