After losing 2-0 to lowly Varese last week, AC Milan laboured to a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Emirates Cup earlier on Saturday. Arsenal fielded their two new signings Marouane Chamakh and Lorient Kosceinly while Milan’s squad was without a number of its star players including Ronaldinho, Pirlo and Ambrossini.
Today’s draw gives Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri his first positive result since he took over from Leonardo a month ago. Chamakh opened the scoring for the Gunners just before half time after Arshavin’s pin point pass left Chamakh with an easy finish.
Pato restored parity with only quarter of an hour left in the game when his header found the back of Fabianski’s net. This was not a bad start for the Rossoneri considering that they were without key players.
Watching from the stands was former Milan player David Beckham along with his two sons Romeo ans Brooklyn who were both wearing Milan jerseys. This is what Allegri had to say when he was asked whether Beckham would return to Milan for a third stint.
‘I do not think so,’ said Allegri, who replaced Leonardo earlier in the summer.
‘David is now recovering from very bad injury at that age it is very difficult to come back.
‘But it has been a great pleasure for us to see him today.’
