After an amazing round of mid week Uefa champions leagues fixtures, Europe’s finest teams shift their focus to their respective leagues. Sunday is a big day in La Liga, Serie A and the Premier league. The onus will be on Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Fiorentina.
Barcelona vs Real Madrid
All these teams will be going for nothing other than a win. The match that has got everyone talking however is the clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid. These two heavy weight will once again take to the pitch in a bid to cement their status as the world’s best football clubs.
2nd place Barcelona host league leaders Real Madrid at the Nou Camp with both these sides expecting to welcome back their star players after a bout of injuries. Barcelona expect to regain the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi. These two players have scored an impressive 17 goals between them so far and Pep Guardiola will expect them to give a stellar performance against the galacticos.
This match will also be used as platform to gauge who between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is the world’s best player. los merengues welcome back Ronaldo after a two month injury lay-off. The Portuguese who played in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over FC Zurich will want to quickly get back to scoring ways in Catalunya. This will definitely be an exciting game. What has me worried though is that Kaka is yet to provide the Madrid fans with his best. My worst case scenario is a 1-0 winfor the home side. Matches of this calibre deserves huge score lines and we can only hope that both these teams put on a good show.
Arsenal vs Chelsea
The action does not stop there as also on Sunday two of England’s ‘big four’ Chelsea and Arsenal lock horns at the Emirates. Chelsea who are enjoying a good start to their domestic campaign will look to beat an Arsenal side who will be without their key striker Robin Van Persie.
Although Arsenal will be missing Van persie, i still believe that players like Nasri and Fabregas can get the work done. Denilson’s goal against Standard Liege on Tuesday was phenomenal and we should expect Wenger’s younster to put up a similar performance when they host the blues.
Chelsea on the other hand will look to their scoring machine Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka to get the job done. My predictions for this game is a 2-0 win in favour of Chelsea. After already beating Manchester United and Liverpool, Chelsea will look to end thier rout of the big four by beating Arsenal.
Inter Milan vs Fiorentina
Coming off a 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League, Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan will look to raise their confidence by beating an impressive Fiorentina who qualified for the knock-out stage.
The nerazzurri will want to win this match and extend their lead in the Serie A but they will be wary of a Fiorentina who have a serial goal scorer at their disposal. Alberto Gilardino, is Inter’s biggest threat and together with Jovetic, Inter’s back line of Lucio, Zanetti and Samuel will have their work cut. This will be a tough one to call but i believe Inter will win. Either way this Sunday will be a very important day across the European football scene
