Just when things are starting to look well for Valencia’s young playmaker, Sergio Canales, another bad luck haunts him as the youngster is set to rest from the playing field for a long time again after picking up an injury against Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
Canales who was stretchered out early in the second half on that Europa League apparently had a new ligament injury on his right knee and according to the club’s doctor, Jordi Candel.
After a much more intensive check up on Friday, the doctor predicted that it would take around six months for Canales to recover again, such a big blow for the youngster since he only just returned from a long term injury. This condition would obviously ends his season with Valencia and considering the midfielder is actually on loan from Real Madrid, it remains to be seen whether Los Blancos will take him again this summer or let him stay at Mestalla.
Canales’ return has actually been positive as he was one of the stars when Valencia beat Real Betis on the weekend and also pretty influential against Atletico Madrid, before he was forced to leave the pitch because of that injury. Before his previous long term stop, the Spain under 21 has also become El Che’s important player, one of his best contribution was when Unay Emery’s side managed to trouble Barcelona at Mestalla.
This news once again provides disappointment for Valencia as they lost Canales in the final stage of competition where they still need to compete in keeping their current third place spot. Although there’s only around four matches left in La Liga, but playing them will full strength is definitely something that Emery would’ve wanted.
