Although there has been much speculation with Jozy Altidore being linked with a move to Turkish club Besiktas, the young America striker hopes to stay with Villarreal.
With Altidore continuing to be loaned out by the Spanish club, it was stated by a spokesman of Villarreal that they were now looking into selling Altidore than just loaning him out. However, after Altidore was able to score in his last match with Villarreal, he is now saying that he wants to stay with the club and prove his worth to them.
“I have dialogue with the coaching staff from Villarreal every day. It’s all positive and it’s all good. I was told that if I stay there and train well, I’m going to play. Of course, it’s the club that gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. So if I had my way, I’d love to be there and prove my worth to the club.”
“Do I expect to be there at Villarreal?”
“Yeah. At the end of the day, you have to look out for your best interests. At the same time, it’s a business, so that aspect is a bit tricky. Rumors are rumors. I couldn’t tell you if one is more true than the other.” Altidore when on to say as he shared his thoughts about his current situation.
Jozy Altidore is currently with the US Men’s National soccer team as they prepare to take on Brazil in a friendly match at the new Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey and with all the rumors going around about where Jozy might be making a transfer to, Altidore staying at Villarreal is something that he would look forward to.
