Adriano’s plan to start against his former club, Inter Milan, in the upcoming Italian Super Cup match is in doubt after the latest report from Italy stated that the Brazilian striker will probably be benched for that game.
Reports claim that Giallorossi’s coach, Claudio Ranieri, is very disappointed with Adriano’s current showing in training and would consider to bench him against Inter.
Ranieri’s disappointment with the Brazilian striker can be spotted by his reaction at Roma’s training ground where he was seen frequently yelling at the ex-Flamengo player.
“Wake up, Quicker, faster, more concentrated. It’s like you don’t know what to do with the ball at your feet.” Ranieri cried to Adriano.
The press also stated that despite Roma’s effort in providing the best diet program for Adriano, the striker reportedly has only lost about 1kg so far. Being overweight with only two weeks left before the Serie A start surely doesn’t look as a good sign for the 28-years-old as he might loose the coach’s faith in considering him as the team’s starter.
Adriano’s arrival in Roma has always been considered as a big gamble especially with the fact that the striker has been famous for his indisciplined behavior in recent years. After having some family issues, the 28-years-old never really manage to get his form back and which resulted in Inter’s decision in selling him to Flamengo.
Meanwhile, with Adriano’s current problems, against Inter Ranieri would surely pick other options to accompany Francesco Totti in filling Roma’s front line. La Gazzeta delo Sport believes that Mirko Vucinic or Jeremy Menez are strong candidates that will partner the Giallorossi’s captain against the Nerazurri.
