AC Milan vs Juventus Preview

After an entertaining 9 months of intense football action, the Serie A wraps up this weekend with what is undoubtedly the biggest game of them all. 17 time Italian Champions AC Milan host 27 time champions Juventus at the San Siro tomorrow.

While this encounter may not be as eagerly anticipated as past clashes, tomorrow’s game does however mean a lot to both clubs as they will be seeking to end their campaigns with a win.

It will be Leonardo’s last game in charge of the Rossoneri and the Brazilian will  want to give Milan fans a victory as a good will gesture for their support through out the season. A win for their Diavolo would mean even much more for a number of their stars who will not be traveling to South Africa to participate in the World Cup.

Brazilian duo Ronaldinho and Pato were left out of Dunga’s squad when the former skipper made the announcement on Tuesday. As you can guess, not too many people were pleased with that decision. Pato has expressed his disappointment at not being included in the team however, we are still yet to hear from Ronaldinho.

The Brazilian play maker has been silent ever since Dunga’s announcement on Tuesday and many including myself expect him to do the talking on the pitch against the Bianconeri tomorrow night. I can’t even imagine how Dinho must be feeling. After giving his best the entire season, Dunga overlooks him to  include Juve’s Felipe Melo!

I mean this is a player who was voted Serie A’s worst player in 2009. Juventus on the other hand lie in 7th position and despite tomorrow’s result, they will have to settle for a spot in Europe’s second tier club competition the Europa League.

The Bianconeri have been on the verge of total collapse this season and its only a miracle that has seen them finish in a top ten position. Current coach Alberto Zaccheroni will be glad to see his side pick up three vital points but history tends to think otherwise.

Winning their last fixture in Turin 3-0 at the beginning of the year, Milan have the upper hand going into tomorrow’s game. Ronaldinho was the hero that night scoring a brace and he will be looking to give a similar perfomance at the San Siro. Home advantage makes the Rossoneri hot favourites and considering Juve’s poor run of form, a loss is highly likely.

My prediction for tomorrow’s game is a a 2-0 win in favour of Milan with Dinho getting his name on the scoresheet.
