With the season closely arriving we hear at SATO would like to take a look at the potential award winners for next season in Serie A. Now it is hard to foresee who will be the best six to nine months from now in any particular statistic, but evaluating past years numbers and club transfers, these are the likely winners and losers of the 2009/2010 awards. First off, lets begin the year by predicting who will be the best coach. After all it is a pretty good position to have a strong candidate.
Coach of the Year
We hear at the SATO didn’t have to bat an eye when we decided our forecast for this coveted award. Leonardo would like to hoist this trophy into the air at the end of his first season as Milan’s coach, but it will likely be somebody else. And that somebody is Jose Mourinho. You should not be surprised really. Looking at Mourniho’s track record, he has been nearly flawless in his managing career. After leaving Chelsea after several successful seasons (including the last two Premier League championships by a team not named Man U) Mourinho has immediately picked up where he left off. Last season Inter cruised to the best record in Serie A and wrapped up the league with nearly a month still left in the season. and although the coach has lost his best weapon, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he has a worthy replacement in Samuel Eto’o. Also the addition of Alberto Diego Molito will prove to be too much firepower for any other club in the top Italian league.
