The just released 2008 MLS schedule finally answers the question that many “soccer fans” have been asking. When is David Beckham coming to my city?
The hard-core major league soccer fan has already purchased their season tickets and can debate the ins and outs of the MLS Draft last month. But for the average American sports fan the only thing they know about MLS is that David Beckham is making $250 million and that they should come and watch him play. Now this is not necessarly a bad thing. For soccer to continue to grow, it needs to appeal to the average sports fan. If Beckham the reason that they come to an MLS game then that is great. If they come back and watch a second game, that is even better.
