Pirlo Stars In Juve Comeback

The Serie A is shaping up to be a 2 horse race between Juventus and defending champions AC Milan especially after the Bianconeri’s 3-1 home win over Catania last night that pushed them back into top spot in the table standings with 49 points, 2 above Milan who could go back on top with a Win at Cesena today.

Former Milan play maker Andrea Pirlo was the man behind Juve’s 3-1 victory as the he pulled a goal back through an amazing free kick before turning provider for Giorgio Chiellini and Fabio Quagliarella.

I have to admit, though i was sad and very concerned when Pirlo left Milan for Juventus last summer, his replacement Kevin Prince Boateng has done an amazing job as his replacement.

Pirlo on the other hand has been one of Juve’s biggest revelations this season despite many of his critics thinking that his best days were behind him. Speaking after the match, Pirlo was quoted as saying how important the win was for Juventus.

“It was important to score because we were at a disadvantage, and it was crucial to win again,” Pirlo said.

“It was also important to find the three points against such a plucky side, but I will now concentrate on winning the league with Juventus.”

It won’t be an easy ride for Juventus who still have Milan breathing heavy down their necks. It will be interesting to see how both teams fair when they meet in the league next Sunday.

According to Pirlo, this is one fixture he is deeply relishing especially with the prospect of going up against former team mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic (that is if he plays) considering he is serving a 4 match ban for slapping Napoli defender Salvatore Aronica.

“I hope he can play because it will make the match an even more beautiful occasion,” Pirlo said.

That said, Juventus still have the chance to extend their lead on top of the 2 points they currently have with them still having a game in hand against Parma after the fixture was cancelled 2 weeks ago due to a heavy snowfall.
