La Liga UEFA Cup Round Up

Here is recap from this week’s La Liga club UEFA Cup results.  All Spanish clubs saw action except for Group C’s Sevilla.

Group A

Racing Santander tied French side PSG 2-2.  A 55th minute goal from central midfielder Gonzalo Colsa tied the score for the Spanish away side.  The result keeps Santander in contention for one of the final 32 spots.

Group G

Valencia defeated Rosenberg 4-0 in Norway.  The offensive outburst began with a goal from Juan Mata in the 21st minute.  The 20-year-old left winger has already been called into the Spanish national team for a match versus Chile, but he has yet to be capped.  The final three goals came late in the second half, the first in the 76th minute via right winger Pablo Hernandez.  In the final moments of the match, elder midfielder Rubén Baraja scored in the 88th and was shortly followed by a goal via former Real Betis winger Joaquín.  Valencia sits second in the group.

Group H

Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña outlasted Dutch side Feyenoord 3-0.  Goals from Alberto Lopo and Mexican winger Andrés Guardado now have controlling its own destiny as the club attempts to qualify for the round of 32.
