The Europa League semi-finals have now been confirmed.
Liverpool were favorites to win the competition but have crashed out 3-1 on aggregate to Atalanta, losing 3-0 at Anfield in a shock first-leg display. At the same time, West Ham have followed them through the door after being dismantled by Xabi Alonso’s newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
That means Leverkusen will face Roma, who saw off Italian rivals AC Milan 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate. Roma were reduced to 10 men in the 31st minute when defender Zeki Celik was sent off for a challenge on Rafael Leao.
Atalanta prize for knockout out the Reds is a semi-final clash against Marseille, who beat Benfica in a penalty shootout, for a place in the Dublin final on May 22.
