Gordon Strachan has resigned as manager of Celtic a day after they surrendered the Scottish Premier League title to city rivals Rangers FC.
During his four-year tenure Strachan led the Hoops to three consecutive SPL titles – the only Celtic manager to do so since Jock Stein – as well as a first appearance in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. ”
“It has been an absolute honour and privilege to be the club’s manager for four years,” said the 52-year-old. “We have done all we can to bring success to the club and we were delighted to deliver three SPL titles, other domestic silverware, as well as making some great progress in Europe. The players can hold their heads high in terms of what they have done in recent years.”

Former Celtic youth member Charlie Mulgrew dazzled his former supporters with two professional goals as Aberdeen nearly upset Scottish power Celtic in league action. The 22-year old left back/left winger scored his second goal in the 65th minute to put Aberdeen in front. It did not take long for The Bhoys to answer.
Australian international Scott McDonald tied the score at 2-2 in the 77th minute. The match appeared ready to end tied until striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored his second on the day.

Rangers took the first installment of the Glasgow derby on Sunday behind a brace from former Celtic forward Kenny Miller. New addition Pedro Mendes also scored. Anyone who has watched Glasgow Rangers play this pre-season was not shocked by the 2-1 loss in Lithuania to FBK Kaunas. Less than three months after appearing in the UEFA Cup Final in Manchester, Rangers are now out of Europe until next year.
