AC Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani has vowed that the Rossoneri will never wear a black jersey again during away matches. This comes after Milan lost 3-0 away to Arsenal in the Champions League last week.

According to Galliani, Milan’s third strip black jersey brings bad luck to the team and he insists that they will return to their yellow strip next season. Truth of the matter is, Milan were poor on the night and not even a change of colour in their strip would have prevented them from losing. It was simply a case of misplaced tactics by Allegri.

Juventus squander the chance to move back top of the Serie A after playing out a 1-1 draw with Bologna yesterday. This is the third consecutive 1-1 draw the Bianconeri have scraped up since their win over Catania 2 weeks ago.

The result means that Juventus remain second in the Serie A on 52 points, two behind Milan. Things are definitely expected to get harder for Juve as consecutive fixtures against Genoa, Fiorentina, Inter, Napoli, Palermo and Lazio could spell doom on their title campaing.

Speaking after the disappointing result, Juve coach Antonio Conte refused to admit that his team was on the decline.

AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has revealed that he is a big admirer of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and that he would not hesitate in signing him if the opportunity presented itself, however, the catch is, the price has to be fair.

I would not want to burst his bubble, but the fact of the matter is that the probability of Ronaldo joining Milan is as slim as Messi leaving Barcelona. Having paid over $130 million to acquire his services from United in 2009, there is no way Los Blancos will sell Ronaldo or yet, sell him on the cheap.

The situation across many European club’s remains tense especially after Andre Villas-Boas surprise sacking yesterday. A number of coaches in top club’s across the continent could find themselves in a similar position once the season ends.

Treading on some very thin ice is Inter Coach Claudio Ranieri as well as his Bayern counterpart Jupp Heynckes. Inter were yesterday forced to come from 2 goals down and draw 2 all with Catania at the San Siro a result that ensured the Nerazzurri avoided a sixth consecutive defeat in all competitions.

Champions League football resumes this week with Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen facing huge uphill tasks while Benfica and Lyon will be looking to protect slender leads.

After allowing the international calendar to take centre stage for a week, the UEFA Champions League returns on Tuesday. AC Milan and FC Barcelona look odds-on to reach the last eight, but the other two round of 16 ties are still up for grabs after tight first legs.

Ibrahimovic marked his return from his three match suspension by scoring a hat-trick in Milan‘s 4-0 win over Palermo yesterday. The win coupled with Juve‘s 1-1 home draw with Chievo pushed the Rossoneri 4 points clear at the top of the Serie A.

Of course Juve still have a game in hand which should they win will bring them level on points with Milan, however, the Bianconeri will still remain in second spot because of Milan’s superior goal advantage.

Ibra’s hat-trick brings him level on 18 goals with Udinese’s Antonio Di Natale as the leading top scorers in the league with 18 goals each though Di Natale could extend his lead if he scores today against Atalanta.

You are probably as shocked as i am to be reading that headline but it is true nonetheless. AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso resumed training with his colleagues yesterday for the first time since he suffered a career threatening eye injury last September.

Gattuso has not played since September 9th 2011 when he suffered a sixth nerve palsy after colliding with fellow team mate Alessandro Nesta during  a league match against Lazio.

The injury though not considered serious at first was later diagnosed as sixth  nerve palsy a condition associated with the dysfunction of the cranial nerve that controls eye movement. The injury has left him blind in the left eye

Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus played out a controversial 1-1 draw at the San Siro yesterday to maintain their respective positions in the Serie A table. The draw leaves on 51 points one ahead of Juventus who have a game in hand.

Traditionally considered as one of the biggest matches in Italy and Europe, a Milan-Juve fixture is never short of thrilling and entertaining football. However last night’s match is on course to be remembered as on of the most controversial.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss out this weekend’s potential title decider against Juventus after having his three-match suspension up-held.

Ibra had been suspended for three matches for slapping an opponent against Napoli earlier this month, but Milan had appealed against the length of the suspension in Iin order to be eligible for Saturday’s meeting at the San Siro.

AC Milan have not wasted any time slamming the decision releasing an official statement to the press saying:

“The decision of the Federal Court of Justice is unfair, because they have applied a sentence intended for violent conduct to an action that was by no means violent. This is a serious judicial error.”

Chelsea Lose 3-1 To Napoli

by David on February 21, 2012

Once again Chelsea took the lead away from home in a Champions League tie, and just like they did in the group stages, they let that led get away as they 3-1 in Napoli in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.

It was three really poor goals that Chelsea gave up in Italy tonight. And it really cost them because this is not a great Napoli side, and I believe Chelsea can get more than the two goals they need to progress at Stamford Bridge in three weeks.
