Barcelona and Bayern Munich swept into the Champions League semifinals as Lionel Messi became the competition’s most prolific scorer in a single season.
Messi scored two first-half penalty kicks and Andres Iniesta added another goal after the break to give Barcelona a 3-1 victory over AC Milan following a 0-0 draw in Italy.
Messi’s 14th Champions League goal this season took him past Ruud van Nistelrooy’s tally in the 2002-03 campaign.

AC Milan held Barcelona to an 0-0 draw at the San Siro, to leave their Champions League quarter-final tie delicately balanced heading back to the Nou Camp next week.
The last time Barcelona failed to score in the Champions League was in the 0-0 draw with Rubin Kazan in November 2009.
Both teams had their chances. Milan‘s were early as Robinho and Ibrahimovic both missed great opportunities in the opening 10 minutes. Messi had a goal pulled back for offside, and Barca were denied a clear penalty when Alexis Sanchez was brought down by Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati. Read more... According to Sport360, Barcelona have not only reached an agreement with Santos to sign the Brazilian phenom Neymar after the 2014 World Cup, but that Barca have already paid Santos some of the transfer fee.
“According to several reliable sources Barca have already paid a quarter [€14.5 million] of the €58 million to Santos to guarantee the transfer of the player,” Sport 360 reports Cadena SER radio claimed, “adding that the date for his transfer was after the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.” Read more... It seemed all so easy 10 days ago when Real Madrid were 10 points ahead of their bitter rivals Real Madrid with 12 games to go. The question was when would Madrid win the title, not if they would.

If Messi stopped playing today, he would probably be considered one of Barcelona‘s all time best players. The Argentine wizard scored a hat-trick on Tuesday to take his official tally for the club to an amazing 233 one ahead of club legend Cesar Rodriguez.
