Busquets: Barcelona Not Focused On Ibrahimovic

As attention shifts to matchday 5 of the Champions League today, many will be waiting with bated breath for what could very well be the Match of the season. Italian giants AC Milan host defending Champions Barcelona at the San Siro tomorrow.

The first leg of this fixture ended in a 2-2 draw at the Nou Camp and Milan know that they can’t take any chances with the champs this time round. Looking back, i now see how Milan were very lucky to get away with a point at the Nou Camp. If you consider the fact that they were without a host of their regular players and Barca were a full strength squad the Rossonerri were indeed very lucky.

Of course, tomorrow’s match is expected to ignite tempers between Ibrahimovic and his former team mates as it will be the first time both will be meeting after the Swede’s exposing truths about how life in the dressing room of one of the most successful club’s in the world really is.

It’s in light of this that Barca Defender Sergio Busquets has come out to say that the club will not be seeking to revenge against Ibrahimovic for his recent behaviour.

Speaking to the press ahead of the fixture, Busquets sort to deflect attention from the Ibra saga by saying that the team was focused on the threat Milan are and not just one player in particular.

“We are thinking about Milan, not just one particular player,” Busquets said.

“This is Milan v Barca, not Ibrahimovic v Barca. We will go to Milan to win, get the three points and the top place in the group. A victory at San Siro would boost our morale and it would be a prestigious result.”

However, the Catalans have been dealt a big blow ahead of the match as play maker Andreas Iniesta won’t be available for the fixture through an injury he sustained.

My Prediction

A 2-1 victory for Milan. Barcelona will definitely go into the match with the aim of scoring early goals and the play their famous possession game, and should they do that, they could probably win the match, however, Milan who desperately need to win will ensure that they frustrate their opponents at any cost and make use of all the chances that come their win.
