Beckham wants to stay in LA

Most of the news headlines around David Beckham this week was the fact that he has just about finalized his loan deal with AC Milan. Beckham is expected to join AC Milan in the January transfer window and stay there through the end of next season. At that point he hopes to be in England’s World Cup squad for next summer.

I had assumed that once the World Cup is over that Beckham would take some time off and then go and then sign for another European team, ending his MLS career.

So I was shocked to read that Beckham is in talks about returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy after the World Cup. MLS commissioner Don Garber was quoted by SkySports as saying:

“That deal I think hasn’t been fully finalized yet but I know he is interested in going to Milan and he’s in conversation with the LA Galaxy about doing a loan again and discussing coming back. But those discussions are ongoing and haven’t really been concluded yet. David has been an important part of the history of MLS and we’d love to have him continue his commitment to the league. We hope that the Galaxy and David can reach some agreement that makes sense for David, the Galaxy and Major League Soccer.”

What do you think about the possibility of Beckham returning to the Galaxy? Is it just a PR move by him at the moment, with the Galaxy in the playoff hunt? If you are an LA fan, are you happy with this news?
