I agree with you that Beckham's statement was a veiled swipe at MLS. Of course we are not the "highest level". We are a new league with little money to attract the top talent. But if he belongs at the "highest level", why did his team tie for last in the league and why did he fail to light up those "lower level" defenders who are apparently not good enough to keep him fit for Capello. Schelotto did it, why couldn't he? Also, if Capello picks him in 2010, it will be a total joke. I like Becks and I hope he helps American soccer, but he does not deserve a spot on that team. He wants to break the all-time caps and World Cup records, which is nice for him, but it's also selfish and could end up hurting the team.
